Comrades 2013
Yes, it has been a while since the Comrades Marathon 2013 and we have delivered way more than 6000 images to The Comrades Marathon Association. We have been asked by many to put up pictures that depict the Comrades Marathon race day from beginning to end, so here it is. Please note that although MMPhoto secured the contract for photography it is not a race that can be covered from beginning to end by one or two people. We have an awesome team that we put together in 2012 and in 2013 we added some more team members in order to have dedicated people concentrating on different aspects of the race day. We are extremely proud of our team! Also congratulations to each and everyone who completed Comrades 2013 and also to those that had the courage to enter, but did not finish. To Claude Moshiywa who finished in 5:32:08 a very well done, you made us proud.
Our team consisted of Marius Bezuidenhout (MMPhoto); Magda Bezuidenhout (MMPhoto); Reuben Bezuidenhout (MMPhoto our son) who we are so proud of because
he was only 16 years old last year when he photographed his first Comrades as an Official photographer and did such a awesome job last year as well as this year;
Kierran Allen/Kierran Allen Photography; Mike Van Heerden (Oceandriven Media); Teagan Cunniffe (Oceandriven Media); Em Gatland/Em Gatland Photography; Dave Nisbet/Dave Nisbet Photography. Thank you to all of you for your commitment to MMPhoto and the quality of images you produced. This is compilations of images taken by all of the above photographers.
Hockey U14 Inter District Tournament
Eish! The weather definitely not playing nicely with us today. We did all the team photographs last night and could feel it getting cooler by the minute we even had the rumblings of thunder and some ligtning! Today is cold and wet and we are freezing while standing next to the Astro taking action pics but the vibe is awesome. This is the game between Amajuba playing in the green and the Umgungundlovu Starlings, Starlings won 1-0….
KZN Winter Airshow
The 29th June 2013 saw the KZN Winter Air show come to Pietermaritzburg. A beautiful sunny day with clear skies and the sound of airplanes being manipulated by skilled aerobatic pilots. Scully Levin and his team in the Eqstra Harvards. The Impala team Dawid Laas and Mike Weingartz and the Goodyear Eagles team, to name but a few. Marius and Reuben/had a bit of a competition to see who got the shot of the day while making sure that they get enough variety to send through to Ursula at Capital Media for publication.
Lloyd & Angelique
We have mostly beautiful days in the month of May and on 25th May we had exactly that, a glorious sunrise that promised an amazing day ahead, and with their wedding venue at the picturesque Eden Lassie the light promised to be good. Angelique ran a little late which snowballed into a bit of a rush to get everything running smoothly again but all was soon back on track again. Angelique looked gorgeous and could not wait to meet Lloyd at the altar. Lloyd showed a little bit of nerves but his face lit up with the most radiant smile when he saw Angelique walking down the isle. Their love for each other was tangible in every corner of the chapel which set the tone for the rest of the day with lots of smiles, laughter and fun.
Afriski Lesotho
After a hot and windy Comrades on 2nd June. On 11th June we were off to Afriski in Lesotho to shoot the Oktoberfest Calendar well talk about a complete opposite in weather! I have never been so cold in my life, hats off to the calendar girls who braved the cold! Due to unforeseen circumstances Magda could not accompany me so Kierran Allen of Kierran Allen Photography agreed to go with us. We had a bit of a competition going on with Canon batteries versus Nikon batteries lasting in the extreme cold conditions but in the end got some great calendar shots and had a wonderful time. Thanks to Afrikski for their hospitality and to all the organizers and the models of the Oktoberfest well done guys.
Afriski, we will see you again on Thursday for the Quik Snow SA National Snowboarding Champs event on 2nd & 3rd August!
Wanda & Mark
We met Wanda when she was still a schoolgirl way back when. After finishing Matric we took her under our wing and helped her to get her modelling career started. The nature of her modelling in Durban was such that she could not work full time so we offered her a position at MMPhoto. We spent many a day travelling up and down to Durban and back for castings etc until she moved to Durban. When she and Mark asked us to photograph their wedding day we were absolutely thrilled. The wedding was amazing, Wanda made most of her decorations herself which made the whole day more meaningful to her and Mark.
Wanda looked absolutely gorgeous and radiant, she could not wait for the moment when she would see Mark at the end of the isle. Mark looked handsome albeit a little nervous but these two have a unique bond that will make their life together a journey of a lifetime.
Jenna C
We had the pleasure to d a shoot for first time fitness model Jenna C. It was arranged very hastily as she wants to enter a competition, the weather definitely was not in our favour as it was very cold and wet for a November day. Jenna did well and took to modeling and being in front of a camera like a pro.
Golden Horse Spring Fest
It was Idols time in Pmb . We had the pleasure of being commissioned to photograph, Elvis Blue 2010 Idols winner, Dave van Vuuren 2011 Idols winner and Lloyd Cele runner up 2010 on Friday 28th October 2011. Had great fun considering the weather being wet, we pushed the 5D Mk II to its limits as well as the 1D Mk II both performed faultlessly.
BLACK SPRING DAY: Rhino Poaching Awareness
Wear the badge during September to bring awareness of the rapidly depleting Rhino population in SA.
Now, traditionally Spring is a happy day when companies and people wear bright, joyful colours. SA should all wear black on Spring, 1st September and tie a black ribbon to the right hand mirror of their vehicles or motorbikes. The idea is that it should symbolise the following;
a) We are fed-up with poachers and the leniency showed in their prosecution and sentences including affording them bail.
b) In memory of ABSA and all the other Rhino’s that were killed so senseless for their horns.
c) To symbolise that the future is black for our Rhino population because our government shows lack of interest in fighting this?
Please, please wear BLACK on 1st September 2011 and tie a BLACK ribbon around the right hand mirror of your vehicle. Spread the word. PLEASE join in this campaign! If you have contacts in the media – please help us
